during the holidays i went back quite alot of times and managed to accomplish an acceptable amount of my coursework. even though i may be one of the first few to start on my final work, its gonna be a long way ahead for my robot and I. i may even finish the last…bleh, i hope i don’t.
anyway here are some photos of the “junk” mechanical parts i collected:

yeah, came back specially just to update you on my coursework. well in the end i really did build a robot. with lots of scrap metal and stuff. i had a really hard time collecting ALL that junk. and uh my robot will be in a position that is breastfeeding a baby. not a real baby of course, and not a robot baby either. just some doll that’s supposed to symbolize a real human baby. well the message i’m trying to put across is about some kinda loss of humanity, whereby such a simple and basic act of breastfeeding will/may in the future, be taken over by robots. are we really going to leave our babies in the hands of robots? can you imagine…those cute chubby innocent babies in the robots’ hard stiff cold unfeeling hands?! no way!
anyway here’s an idea of how my robot’s pose may look like:
and to reiterate my point of how cute and innocent babies are…everyone can watch a video of this really cute toddler called Zoei Toh. seeing her sing, and her innocent actions makes me forget all troubles!

i finally came up with my very own robot (designed myself)!!

all this while i’ve been just copying and duplicating other images/drawings, but this robot is done totally on my own. of course i did make references here and there, but its mostly my own. the pose of it is actually from a baby on her knees and hands as shown from my drawing.
i thinks certain parts are quite cool, even though it looks a little bit like a frog from certain angles. the head is the weirdest, but its really really hard to get the head right…

haha! sorry, the title of this post is quite lame. just that throughout the whole process of drawing the tattoo machine, and whenever i look at it, i feel very uneasy and “painful”. as in i keep imagining the poor person under the mercy of the vicious machine.
anyway this was drawn in pencil, and its in my sketchbook. my sketchbook has been quite…lately. i don’t get any constructive thing out of it, and i’m always just waiting for the lesson to be over. how?!

well, i’ve never owned a blog before, so you’ll have to forgive any seemingly sloppy work. you don’t know how long my classmates had to nag at me about how “dead” my blog was before i finally posted this.
okay…first things first, my artist’s statement. actually i wanted to do lino art, you know, those rubber stamping thingos? was really fascintaed by it back then when the non-AEP students did that for art. but…in the end i decided against it. because mr gan says it requires alot of technical skills and i don’t have any experience doing it at all.
as for my theme, i don’t really have a theme, but it’ll most probably be on machine like stuff. robots and all that. will i be a architect or engineer next time? Never. i want to open my own child care centre!! well, that’s besides the point. i’m still considering 2D drawings, but i was advised to do something more challenging…like building a robot! quite a cool idea eh?
so that will be all for now…feel free to give me any comments or advise on my course work!
